Dr. Mary Margaret Frank
Dean, Kenan-Flagler Business School
Short Bio
Dr. Mary Margaret Frank is a Triple Tar Heel, an academic fellow at the UNC Tax Center and has taught in the Master of Accounting Program. She returned to UNC Kenan-Flagler from the University of Virginia Darden School of Business, where she was senior associate dean for faculty development, John Tyler Professor of Business Administration. She also was co-founder and academic director of the Institute for Business in Society. In that role she led the development of the P3 Impact Award, which recognizes leading cross-sector collaboration to improve communities around the world, in partnership with the U.S. Department of State’s Office of Global Partnerships and Concordia. Her passion for cross-sector collaboration also led her to establish the Tri-Sector Leadership Fellows program, which brings together graduate students from business, law and public policy.
Opening Session
The opening panel is a powerful conversation featuring senior leaders from four trailblazing organisations across sustainability consulting, community development, climate tech, and impact investing. Framed under the theme “Bridging Purpose and Practice: Career Journeys that Inspire,” this session’s presentation will offer students a dual lens into today’s purpose-driven industries.

Alex Brandwein

Short Bio
Alex, originally from New York, earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Wisconsin–Madison in 2011. He then spent eight years in investment banking and private equity in Chicago and New York before pursuing his MBA at UNC in 2018 to follow his entrepreneurial passion. Inspired by the UNC community, he opened a New York–style bagel shop in downtown Chapel Hill. Alex could not have opened the shop without the support of UNC and the broader Chapel Hill/Carrboro community.
